Collingwood precinct
This project will gradually retire and replace Melbourne’s 44 older high-rise public housing towers, built between the 1950s and 70s, by 2051. Each redevelopment will take 6 to 8 years to complete.
Renters in the Collingwood precinct located on Wellington and Hoddle Streets are not currently required to relocate.
There are no further relocations planned before July 2026.
This is a long-term project that will happen in careful stages. When it’s time to move, renters are given plenty of notice and help to find a suitable new home including homes in your current neighbourhood.
When new homes are built renters have the right to return to their neighbourhood based on their ongoing eligibility, needs and suitability of the new homes.
