This project will gradually retire and replace Melbourne’s 44 older high-rise public housing towers, built between the 1950s and 70s, by 2051. Each redevelopment will take 6 to 8 years to complete. Renters living at 229 Hoddle Street in Collingwood are not currently required to relocate. There are no further relocations planned before July 2026.  

What this means for renters living at 229 Hoddle Street

Nothing is changing overnight. When it is time to move, renters will be supported to move to new housing that meets their needs and preferences.
