Richmond precinct

Located in the heart of Richmond between busy Victoria Street, Church Street, Highett Street and Lennox Street, the Richmond precinct is home to over 1,000 households. The precinct is a mix of existing buildings built between 1971 and 1975 and new developments.

The Richmond local housing office is located at 112 Elizabeth Street.

Renters living in 139 Highett Street, 111, 119 and 127 Elizabeth Street, 6 and 8 Anderson Court, and 1-5, 7 and 9 Williams Court, Richmond have started progressing relocations due to be complete by February 2026. The redevelopment is due to be complete by 2032.

Renters living at 106, 108, 110 and 112 Elizabeth Street are not currently required to relocate.

We do not anticipate any further relocations before July 2026 but we will keep communicating with you.

What does this mean for renters in social housing high-rise neighbourhoods?

This is a long-term project that will happen in careful stages. When it’s time to move, renters are given plenty of notice and help to find a suitable new home including homes in your current neighbourhood.

When new homes are built renters have the right to return to their neighbourhood based on their ongoing eligibility, needs and suitability of the new homes.
